CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Union-Scioto Local School District will have additional law enforcement in its buildings Thursday after Unioto High School received a report of a student making threats, Superintendent Matt Thornsberry told families late Tuesday night.
Thornsberry said in a message to families that the district was notified of a “potential incident involving a student making threats” and immediately alerted law enforcement and the student’s family. The district said it investigated the report and, in its words, “addressed and removed any potential threat,” and that it would keep working with law enforcement.
“Out of an abundance of caution, additional law enforcement will be present in our schools tomorrow,” Thornsberry said in the message.
Thornsberry said there was no credible threat to the school community as of Tuesday night and that the district would notify families promptly if that changed. He asked students and families to report any concerns immediately, saying in the message, “if you hear something, say something.”
The information contained in this story was obtained from the Union-Scioto Local School District.
