WAVERLY, Ohio — Waverly City Schools and the Waverly Police Department found no credible threat after investigating a video posted to social media by a student that had raised concern among families about this Friday, the district said in a statement.
District officials said they became aware of the concern after the video began circulating on social media. School administrators immediately looped in the Waverly Police Department to look into the matter.
“After investigation by school administration and the Waverly Police Department it was concluded there is no threat,” the district said.
Officials asked families to trust that any concern raised about student safety is taken seriously. “Please be assured we take these concerns seriously and investigate thoroughly,” the district said, thanking the community for speaking up.
Waverly City Schools, whose students and athletic teams go by the Tigers, serves Pike County students from a campus on Tiger Drive in Waverly that includes Waverly High School, the district’s only high school. Waverly High enrolled roughly 480 students as of the 2022-23 school year and competes in the Southern Ohio Conference.
