Mary Jane Wright, 100, of Clarksburg, died on Monday evening, September 7, 2026, at Traditions of Chillicothe. She was born on May 27, 1926, in Pickaway County, a daughter of the late John W. and Agnes Conaway Fellenstein. On June 8, 1947, she married John Wesley Wright, and he died on December 19, 2007.
She is survived by two children, Linda (Joe) Rogers of McArthur, and John Clayton (Cathy) Wright of Gilbertsville, Kentucky, four grandchildren, Chad Rogers, Kyle Wright, Eric Wright, and Alex Wright, two great-great grandchildren, Wayd and Zina, and three step great-great grandchildren, Rian, Chloe, and Bailey, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mary Jane was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John W. Wright, two sisters, Beatrice Anderson, Thelma Rose Reynolds, and one brother, Howard Fellenstein.
Mary Jane was a 1944 graduate of Clarksburg High School, where she served as valedictorian of her class. She worked several years as a clerk at Wright Patterson Air Force Base and for Dr. Stradley at The Ohio State University. After starting a family with her husband, she became township trustee and clerk for Deerfield Township. She was a member of Clarksburg United Methodist Church, where she served as choir director. She also taught many local children as a piano teacher.
A funeral service for Mary Jane will be held on Monday, September 14, 2026, at 1 PM in the Clarksburg United Methodist Church, with Pastor David Yinger officiating. Burial will follow in Brown’s Chapel Cemetery, Clarksburg. Family and friends may visit with Mary Jane’s family on Monday from 11 AM until the time of the service. Arrangements are under the care of the Ebright Funeral Home, Frankfort.
