WASHINGTON COURT HOUSE, Ohio — Several downtown streets will close for nearly a week starting Sept. 15 as the city prepares for its annual Scarecrow Festival, according to a public notice from the City of Washington Court House.
The closures will begin at 11 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15, and remain in effect until the festival concludes Sunday, Sept. 20, the notice said.
Court Street will be closed from Hinde Street to North Street, and Main Street will be closed from Market Street to East Street. South Main Street will be closed from East Street near the Center for Economic Development building and its parking lot, the city said. North Fayette Street will be closed from Market Street to Court Street, and South Fayette Street will be closed from Court Street to East Street if needed. All alleys near the closures will also be shut down.
The city municipal lot at the corner of East Street and South Main Street will close at 11 p.m. Tuesday and remain closed through the end of the festival Sunday. A separate municipal lot on Court Street, between Good Dog Groomery and Oyaho Hibachi, will close by 7 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 17.
Officials are asking drivers to move all vehicles out of the affected areas before the posted deadlines. Any vehicles left behind will be towed at the owner’s expense by the Washington Court House Police Department, the city said.
The Scarecrow Festival is an annual event held in downtown Washington Court House featuring live music, food and craft vendors, carnival rides and games, and a 5K/10K walk/run, with free admission for attendees.
