ASHVILLE, Ohio — The Village of Ashville’s Finance Committee is scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. Monday to consider a request to split revenue from a Joint Economic Development District with the village of South Bloomfield, along with the village’s 2027 budget and a proposed change to the police department’s sick leave policy, according to the committee’s agenda.
The JEDD revenue request, the 2027 budgeting discussion and the Police Department’s proposed sick leave amendment are all listed as new business on Monday’s agenda. Joint Economic Development Districts allow Ohio townships, cities and villages to cooperatively develop land for commercial or industrial use, typically by sharing income tax revenue generated within the district, according to Ohio State University’s agricultural extension service.
Ashville has been active in regional economic development arrangements amid a wave of development interest in northern Pickaway County. The village is also at the center of a separate, higher-profile development dispute: its council has been weighing repeal of a development agreement with EdgeConneX Inc. for two data centers, a measure that helped trigger a referendum on the deal headed to Pickaway County voters in November.
Monday’s Finance Committee meeting is open to the public, according to the village.
Ashville is a village of about 4,500 residents in Pickaway County, governed by an elected mayor and village council.
