Fair winds and following seas are wished for Chief Petty Officer David E Trimble,
USN, ret, 82, of Chillicothe, when he embarked on his final journey on Sept. 12, 2026.
David was born July 12, 1944, to Ellis and Vallie (Beekman) Trimble. He grew up in
Chillicothe with his three sisters and five brothers. After graduating from Unioto High
School, David enlisted in the US Navy proudly serving his country for 20 years.
Throughout his distinguished career, he worked in several locations, including
Washington, DC, Honolulu Hawaii, San Angelo and Corpus Christi, Texas, Agana
Guam, Norfolk Virginia, and Baltimore, Maryland. Through his work, he touched history
in a special way. Including working as an aide to Admiral John McCain, delivering
communication to President Lyndon Johnson, and assisting in the processing for
Vietnam refugees. His proudest professional accomplishment was his promotion to
Chief Petty Officer. David was proud of his military service, describing it “as some of
the best times of my life.”
In January 1965, David married the love of his life, Judy (Durbin) Trimble, who
survives. They enjoyed 61 years of marriage together. From this union came two
children: Dr. Teresa (Keith) Couch, Independence, KY and David (Lori) Trimble,
Columbus Ohio. Four grandchildren: Bennett and Johnathan (Brianna) Couch, and
Alexander and Em (Melody) Stardust, and his beloved Pomeranian, Ivy. David was
preceded in death by an infant grandson, Joseph David Couch.
David is also survived by his sister Carol Jackson, Chillicothe, numerous nieces
and nephews, his special golf buddies from the Chillicothe Jaycees, and his fellow
classmates from the Unioto, Class of 1962. David was preceded in death by his
grandson, parents, two sisters, Evelyn Elliot and Dorothy Corrigan, and five brothers
Walter, Wayne, Kenneth, Roger, and Ronnie Trimble.
David was a member of American Legion Post 62.
David was adamant that we should not mourn his passing but celebrate his life.
In lieu of a traditional funeral service, the family asks that you do something celebratory.
Spend time with loved ones, play a round of golf, or take your grandkids to the park in

There will be no public viewing or services. Arrangements are under the direction of the WARE FUNERAL HOME.
