MCARTHUR, Ohio — The McArthur Fire Department will hold its 11th annual Bean Dinner & Hog Roast on Oct. 24, serving food and desserts to the community as a fundraiser for the all-volunteer department.
The event runs from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the department’s Station 2, at 58644 U.S. Route 50, the fire department said in a Facebook post. Attendees can expect beans, roasted pork, drinks and desserts, with donations encouraged to support the department.
The McArthur Fire Department is a 100% volunteer department that serves the Village of McArthur, the Vinton County seat, along with Brown, Elk, Swan, Richland and Jackson townships. The department’s main station sits at 303 W. High St. in McArthur.
Volunteer fire departments across rural Vinton County rely heavily on community fundraisers such as bean dinners, fish fries and auctions to help cover equipment and operating costs between grant cycles and tax levies.
The McArthur Fire Department said it looks forward to seeing the community at this year’s dinner.
