CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — The Chillicothe Police Department has a new officer on patrol after Carson Sammons took the oath of office this week in a ceremony at the Chillicothe Municipal Court.
Sammons was sworn in Tuesday, officially beginning his career with the department, the city of Chillicothe said in a Facebook post.
Sammons joins a department led by Chief Ron Meyers, whose officers are tasked with investigating violations of the Ohio Revised Code and city ordinances while patrolling Chillicothe, a city of roughly 22,000 residents that once served as Ohio’s first state capital. The department also runs a dedicated social worker program and a Post Overdose Response Team, and partners with Southern Ohio Crime Stoppers on anonymous tip reporting, according to the city.
“Please join us in welcoming Carson Sammons to the City of Chillicothe Police Department,” the city said in its announcement, congratulating the new officer.
Sammons is the second officer sworn in by the department this month, following Brayden Woodbridge, who took the oath of office earlier in September.
