James Edwin Beverly, 75, of Chillicothe, passed away on Thursday evening, September 17, 2026 at the Embassy of Valley View in Frankfort, following an extended illness.
He was born October 13, 1950, in Chillicothe, son of the late Walter and Elsie Marie (Mayo) Beverly. He was born into a family of eight children, two of which survive: Rose Marie Hamrick and Betsy Sue Walker.
James was the father of three children: Kelli Janay Brown, Shawn Smith and James Beverly II; grandfather of: Shawna Smith, Shawntel Smith, Shawnee Smith, Shawnice Smith, Paris Debord, Shawn Walter Smith, Anthony Smith, Kaysia Compher, Shawntee Smith, Ceante' Beverly, Kollins Beverly, James Beverly III and Danyl Beverly; and great-grandfather of Legen Jackson. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings: Walter Beverly, Jr., Joann "Jody" Beverly Thomas, Philip Beverly, Rebecca Beverly and Fredrick Beverly.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, September 26, 2026 at the Haller Funeral Home. Military graveside honors will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may join the family Saturday for visitation from 11:00am until the time of the service.
