PORTSMOUTH, Ohio — The Scioto County Public Library Board of Trustees voted Aug. 21 to approve a $196,042.74 contract with Duro-Last to replace the flat portion of the Portsmouth branch’s roof, moving ahead with a project trustees had reviewed but held off on approving a month earlier.
The contract includes a 15-year warranty covering consequential damages and five years of additional coverage, according to the board.
Trustees also ratified new three-year utility agreements with Interstate Gas Supply, locking in electricity at 5.91 cents per kilowatt-hour and natural gas at $5.66 per unit through July 2029, and renewed the library’s health insurance through Medical Mutual, a plan carrying a 4.71% cost increase that the board said came in well below a 12% increase quoted under an alternate carrier.
The board voted to end its WiFi hotspot lending program, citing high replacement costs after repeated device damage and theft, and approved a contract with Gleim Auctions to sell the library’s retired bookmobile.
In other business, the board approved July’s financial reports and bills totaling $345,804.60, including payroll, and received updates on exterior signage work underway at the South Webster branch and on summer programming that drew more than 3,200 people to the library’s booth at the county fair.
