CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A 67-year-old Chillicothe man was struck and killed by a car Monday evening on Rozelle Creek Road in Huntington Township, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Troopers from the patrol’s Chillicothe Post are investigating the crash, which happened about one-tenth of a mile east of state Route 772, near 194 Rozelle Creek Road, the patrol said.
The patrol’s Jackson Communication Center received a report at 5:13 p.m. of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle. A 2021 Kia K5 driven by Emma Silcott, 23, of McArthur, was traveling southwest on Rozelle Creek Road when it struck a pedestrian in the roadway, later identified as Willard Colvin, 67, of Chillicothe, according to the patrol.
Colvin was pronounced dead at the scene and was transported from the scene by Ware’s Funeral Home, the patrol said. Silcott did not report any injuries.
The patrol was assisted at the scene by Huntington Township Fire and EMS, the VA Fire Department, the Ross County Coroner’s Office and Hills Towing. Rozelle Creek Road was closed for about two and a half hours while the crash was investigated, according to the patrol.
The crash remains under investigation. It is the second serious crash reported on Rozelle Creek Road this month.
