Robert E. Snyder, 85, of Waverly passed 3:44 a.m. Thursday, September 24, 2026 at his home.
He was born December 21, 1940 in Ross County to the late Willie and Emma Seymour Snyder. On December 31, 1984 he married Verla Montgomery who preceded him May 20, 2025.
Surviving are children, Debra Fischer, of Gulfport, MS, Robert (Vicki) Snyder, of Londonderry and Steve (Karla) Snyder, of Chillicothe; step-children, Sandra Lawless, of Waverly and Montgomery Wright, of Hillsboro; grandchildren, William (Alyssa) Lawless, Jennifer (Wesley) Cornett, Hamidou Ngoungou, Denver Snyder, Logan Snyder, Kirra Snyder and Jeena Snyder; great grandchildren, KayLeigh Campbell, Weston Cornett, Jaxen Cornett, Oakley Snyder, Beau Lawless and Phoebe Lawless. He was predeceased by, son-in-law, Bruce Fischer and siblings, Nellie Oyer, George Snyder, Bill Snyder, JoAnn Cryder, Whitey Snyder, Herman Snyder and David Snyder.
Bob retired from the U.S. Navy after 20 years while serving on the USS Wallace L. Lind, USS Steinaker, USS Newport News, USS Vulcan, USS Eugene A. Greene, USS Sellers and Mine Squadron Ten. He also retired from the VA Medical Center. Bob enjoyed raising cattle for over forty years on their farm in Pike County. He attended Morgantown CCCU Church.
A memorial service will be held 6 p.m. Saturday October 3rd, 2026 in the WARE FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Mike Brown officiating. Visitation will be held 4 to 6 p.m. prior to the memorial service.
