VALERIE JO EMRICH, age 73, of Washington CH, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 29, 2026 at Carriage Court of Washington CH.
She was born on November 11, 1952 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Joseph Foster and Martha Christine (Vallery) Emrich. She was a 1971 graduate of Madison South High School. Valerie had worked as an accountant for most of her adult life and was proud to have been employed by Wendy’s Corporation. She also loved to sing and was a proud member of the 1970 All-Ohio State Youth Choir. As part of that choir, Valerie toured Europe, and notably, performed for English royalty and President Nixon.
Survivors include her children, Emily Spahr, and Alex Spahr; and siblings, Kay (Jim) Downing, Carla (Dusty) Camp, and Ernest (Chris) Emrich. Also surviving are several beloved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 6, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with Pastor Richard Owens officiating with burial to follow at the Paint Township Cemetery in Madison County. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Tuesday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the All-Ohio State Fair Youth Choir.
