CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Ross County fire crews were dispatched to a garage fire in the 3300 block of Cattail Road shortly before 7 p.m. Saturday, according to initial emergency radio traffic.
A caller reported the garage, which was not attached to the house, was on fire, according to radio traffic. The occupant of the home was inside the house at the time, not the garage, radio traffic indicated.
First-arriving crews found a single-story residential garage with smoke showing from the roof and declared it a working fire, according to radio traffic. Firefighters said they would take an offensive attack, staged the first engine on the roadway and pulled a cross-lay hoseline to the garage, radio traffic showed. A second chief officer assumed incident command, according to the radio traffic.
Within about 13 minutes of the fire being declared, a Ross County commander on scene reported the fire was contained and crews were moving into mop-up operations, according to radio traffic.
No further details on the fire’s cause or the extent of damage were available Saturday evening.
