FRANKFORT, Ohio — The Concord Township Volunteer Fire Department’s fourth annual Touch-A-Truck event drew families to Brad Lightle Park on Sunday, with clear weather, a free bike giveaway and a lineup of fire trucks, construction equipment and utility vehicles for children to climb aboard.
UPDATE (Oct. 5, 3:42 p.m.): This story has been updated with additional information from the Concord Township Volunteer Fire Department.
The free event ran alongside a kickball tournament hosted by Friends of the Village – Frankfort, and included face painting, hot dogs, chips, water and an ice cream truck, the department said in a social media post thanking the volunteers and businesses who made the day possible.

More than a dozen organizations donated equipment, staff or supplies for the event, the department said. Keystone Cooperative sponsored the larger bicycles given away to children and provided equipment, while the Ross County Sheriff’s Office sent K-9 Zeena along with officers B. Smith and M. Smith. The Ohio State Highway Patrol and the Ohio Department of Transportation’s Southern Ohio District 9 also brought vehicles for children to explore. Other contributors included Eitel’s Towing of Chillicothe, Kenworth Truck Co., Bud’s Septic Tank Cleaning, George J. Igel & Co., Lacko Concrete Pumping, Badger Daylighting Service and JC Transportation. 35 Raceway Park donated hot dogs for the event, according to the department.

Brad Lightle Park sits along the Tri-County Triangle Trail and is a regular stop for bicyclists, runners and walkers passing through the village, according to the village’s website. The park is overseen by local volunteers who also handle shelter house reservations for residents.
The department, which operates out of its station on West Springfield Street in Frankfort and relies on a mix of part-time and volunteer staff, is already looking ahead to next year. The fifth annual Touch-A-Truck is scheduled for Oct. 3, 2027, at the same park.
