Charles W. Merrick, age 89 of New Vienna, passed away peacefully Monday evening, September 21, 2026 at his home. He was born February 20, 1937 in Pulaski County, Kentucky, the son of the late Willie and Elizabeth Ellen (Jones) Merrick. Mr. Merrick is survived by his daughter, Angela Merrick (John Boyd) Cloud; three grandsons, Jason (Jill) Cloud, Joshua (Crystal) Cloud, and Joseph (Kelsey) Cloud; seven great grandchildren, Mackenzie Cloud, Rowen Cloud, Olivia Cloud, Emma Cloud, Ellie Cloud, Jeffrey Cloud, and Joby Charles Cloud; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Linda (Andrews) Merrick, who passed away February 1, 2021; and his son, Robert Merrick. He was the last surviving member of his family, so all his siblings, June Merrick Mackling, Jay Merrick, Garvin Merrick, Don Merrick, Bill Merrick, Christine Merrick Rowley and Marlin Merrick, also precede him in death, as well as brothers-in-law Jim Pierson and Terry Rohrer. Visitation will be held from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 24, 2026 at the New Vienna Community Church, 412 West Street, New Vienna, Ohio. The funeral service will immediately follow visitation at 1:00 p.m. Pastor Dan Mayo will officiate. Burial will follow in the Clinton Memory Gardens.
