Barbara Ella (Thompson) Hartley, of Waverly, Ohio, went to be with the Lord at 1:43 AM on October 7, 2026.

Barbara was born on May 27, 1934, to the late Millard and Arilla Louise (Scott) Thompson.

She was united in marriage to Willard “Bill” Hartley on January 29, 1954.

She is survived by her son Paul (Shelia) Hartley and daughters Paula (Dave) Humphreys and Patricia Hartley. She was blessed with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She has one sister, Wanda (Thompson) Conkel.

She was preceded in death by her husband Willard “Bill” Hartley, parents Arilla Louise (Scott) Thompson and Millard Thompson (papaw) and special brother-in-law’s Frank Conkel, Edward Blaum and Robert DeMichael.

Barbara was a 1952 graduate of Waverly High School. She was a member of the Gideons International.

Barbara loved to sew and do any type of crafting. She enjoyed playing Skip-Bo with her family during their visits to Florida. Before moving to Florida in 1984, she enjoyed bowling and gardening.

Barbara was a faithful and loyal servant of God. God was number one and her family was second. She had a heart for Jesus and it showed in all she did and said. She was a prayer warrior that expressed unconditional love and forgiveness to all. She was blessed to have two best friends. Lorene (Sword) Fulton, Columbus, Ohio and Stephanie Stonerook of Spring Hill, Fla. She will sadly be missed by her family and friends.

Barbara worked for City Loan, Waverly State Bank and SORCA all in Waverly. While residing in Florida, she was employed at Lykes Pasco Citrus Packing Company in Dade City, Florida.

She was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church in Waverly before moving to Spring Hill, Florida. She transferred her membership to Mariner United Methodist Church, Spring Hill, Florida in 1984. Upon returning to Waverly in 2022, her membership was then transferred to Calvary Methodist Church in Waverly.

Service will be led by Chaplain Jon Partlow of Heartland Hospice at Boyer Funeral Home, Waverly, Ohio following visitation at 1:00 PM

Visitation will be Monday, October 12, 2026 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM

Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Waverly, Ohio.
