NEW BOSTON, Ohio — The New Boston Police Department has a new officer on patrol after Ptl. Hunter Buckle was sworn in Monday by Mayor Imes and Police Chief Dixon, the department said in a Facebook post.
Buckle previously served with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, which is led by Sheriff Tedd Frazier and patrols a county of roughly 32,000 residents to the north of Scioto County.
New Boston is a village of roughly 2,300 residents along the Ohio River in Scioto County, almost entirely surrounded by the city of Portsmouth. The village was platted in 1891 and takes its name from Boston, Massachusetts, the hometown of several of its earliest settlers.
The New Boston Police Department was established in 1906, making it one of the longer-standing local law enforcement agencies in the Scioto Valley.
