Michael Robert Elam, 79, of Chillicothe, Ohio passed away suddenly on October 15, 2026. He was born in Chillicothe, Ohio on September 29, 1947 to Charles Herbert and Virginia Dorothy Elam. On November 15, 1965 he married Peggy L Chaffin who passed on July 11, 2026.
He is survived by his son Michael Elam II: grandson, Clay Elam, siblings, Cindy Manion, and Robbie Elam, nieces Michelle Sonnacchio and Kathleen Bennett, as well as many extended family and friends.
Michael was a Veteran having served in the US Army during Vietnam and was Purple Heart Recipient. He worked at the Chillicothe VA Medical Center for over 35 years. His passion to serve others was also seen in his commitment to the Boy Scouts where he served as a Leader and a Master, he was on the Boy Scout Camp Property Committee and on the Eagle Board Review, as well as being on the staff of the National Jamboree in 1985 and 1989. He is fondly remembered for his sense of humor.
A Funeral Service and Military Honors will be held on Wednesday, October 21, 2026 at 1:00pm at the Haller Funeral Home & Crematory. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00pm on Tuesday, October 20, 2026 at the funeral home.
