Gary E. Dill, 69, passed away peacefully at his residence on Friday, October 23, 2026, following a long illness. He was born on January 11, 1957, in Portsmouth.
Gary proudly served in the Army National Guard and will be remembered for his big heart, quick wit, and the laughter he brought to those around him. A true jokester, Gary had a special way of making people smile and turning ordinary moments into lasting memories. He especially loved playing darts, a passion that brought him not only enjoyment but also lifelong friendships. To Gary, the dart community was more than a group of friends—it was family. Spending time with his friends was an important part of his life, and the bonds he shared with them meant the world to him.
Above all, Gary was a caring and compassionate person who had a special love for children. His kindness, humor, and willingness to be there for others left a lasting impression on the many people fortunate enough to know him. His presence will be deeply missed, especially by the close-knit dart family who stood by his side throughout his journey.
Gary is survived by his grandson, TJ Moore; his brothers, Charles Bower and Jody Bower; his sister, Lori McGill; his special friends, Shirley McCasin, Rick Earwood, and David Coche; and his beloved dart family, whose friendship, love, and unwavering support meant so much to him.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sharon Dill, his mother, Mary (Dill) Bower and dad, Bill Bower.
Gary leaves behind a legacy of laughter, friendship, and kindness. Though he will be deeply missed, the memories he created, the jokes he shared, and the friendships he treasured will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. He may have laid down his darts for the last time, but he will never be forgotten by the family and friends who were blessed to share in his life.
