HILLSBORO, Ohio — Crews were working Tuesday to repair a water main break on the north end of Hillsboro near Walmart, Marshalls and the Highland County Justice Center, according to the Highland County Emergency Management Agency.
The agency said in a Facebook post that it was aware of the break and that crews were already responding. As of Tuesday afternoon, no boil-water advisory had been issued, though the agency said one could still be ordered depending on how repairs proceed, and that it would share updates as they become available.
The break was reported along the same stretch of road as the Highland County Justice Center, a 71-bed facility that opened in 2001 to house the Highland County Sheriff’s Office and the county jail. The justice center replaced an older jail and sheriff’s office that had stood next to the Highland County Courthouse since 1895.
Water service in that part of Hillsboro falls under the city’s Public Utilities water office, which bills roughly 3,000 customer accounts within city limits. Highland County residents outside Hillsboro’s limits are served separately by Highland County Water Co.
The Highland County Emergency Management Agency thanked residents for their patience as crews continue the repair work.
