In Loving Memory of Dian Russell

January 4, 1951 – October 26, 2026

Dian Russell, affectionately known as "Dolly" or "Boom" passed away peacefully in her home on October 26, 2026, at 4:06 a.m., surrounded by the love and comfort of those who meant so much to her. Dian will be remembered for her unique personality, the joy she found in the things she loved, and the special connections she shared with those around her.

Originally from Alabama and born on January 4, 1951, Dian became a resident of Ohio in 1998. Although she made Ohio her home, Alabama always held a special place in her heart. She often spoke of one day getting a pink Jeep and driving back to "Bama," a dream that reflected her love for her home state and the memories she carried with her.

One of Dian's greatest loves was her longtime caregiver, Betty Runyon, who devoted more than 42 years of her life to caring for Dian. Their bond went far beyond that of caregiver. Dian looked to Betty as a mother figure and lovingly called her "Mom." The love, trust, and connection they shared were a beautiful and lasting part of Dian's life.

Dian was absolutely in love with Dolly Parton, and her days were often spent doing what she enjoyed most "recording records." Her love for Dolly Parton brought her happiness and was a special part of who she was. Whether she was enjoying her favorite music or sharing her dreams of returning to Alabama in a pink Jeep, Dian had a way of making her own world a little brighter.

Faith was also an important part of Dian's life. She enjoyed attending Eternal Light Full Gospel Church in Chillicothe, Ohio, where she had the opportunity to worship and be part of a church community.

In 2019, Dian made her home at Scioto Trails Chillicothe Group Home, where she was loved and cared for by so many dedicated staff members. During her time there, she formed meaningful relationships with those who supported her and became part of a special family. She especially loved her housemates, whom she affectionately called her "girls." They were an important part of her daily life, and the bonds she shared with them made her home a place of companionship, love, and belonging.

Dian will be remembered for her love of music, her fondness for Dolly Parton, her dreams of Alabama, and the special names and memories that made her uniquely herself. Above all, she will be remembered by the many people who loved her, cared for her, and were blessed to be part of her life.

Though Dian has departed this life, the memories she created and the love she shared will remain in the hearts of those who knew her. She will be deeply missed by her beloved Betty "Mom" Runyon, her Scioto Trails family, her "girls," and all the staff, friends, and loved ones whose lives she touched.

Rest peacefully, Dian. May you be surrounded by love, filled with beautiful music, and finally at peace. You will forever be our Dolly.

A celebration of life will be held at a later time.
