CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — The right turn lane from North Paint Street onto West Main Street will close for four weeks starting Monday, Nov. 2, so crews can continue work at the Ross County Courthouse, the city announced on social media.

The closure, which runs through Nov. 27, affects only the turn lane; through traffic on North Paint Street will not be blocked, according to the city.

The courthouse work is part of a broader restoration project at the historic building. Ross County’s Justice Committee — which includes the county commissioners, the county prosecutor, the clerk of courts, the probate judge and a common pleas judge — voted in August to approve plans for the first phase of the project, following commissioners’ earlier approval of $350,000 for painting the courthouse clock tower and installing a new weathervane.

Separately, East Second Street will close Tuesday, Nov. 3, from 8 a.m. to noon between North Paint Street and the alley beside the Majestic Theatre, the city said. That closure is shorter and unrelated to the courthouse project.

The city did not say what work is prompting the East Second Street closure. Residents with questions about either closure can contact the city at 740-773-2700 or [email protected].
