PIKE COUNTY, Ohio — The Community Action Committee of Pike County is recruiting volunteers to help prepare tax returns for low-income families during the 2027 tax season.
The agency’s Workforce & Business Development Program is again offering the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program, known as VITA, which provides free tax preparation services to residents who qualify. The IRS is seeking people willing to prepare income tax returns in 2027, according to the release.
No prior experience is required, and training is provided at no cost to volunteers. The agency, which has sought VITA volunteers in past tax seasons, said all volunteers are protected from liability for negligent acts performed within the scope of their volunteer duties.
Those interested in becoming a tax volunteer can contact Erica Jones at 740-289-2371, ext. 7038, or by email at [email protected].
