JACKSON, Ohio — A semi driver lost control and jackknifed his truck on U.S. 35 in Jackson County on Monday morning, blocking the westbound lanes for about three hours, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Troopers from the patrol’s Jackson Post responded to the single-vehicle commercial crash near milepost 6 in Jackson Township at about 11:23 a.m., the patrol said.
A 2020 Freightliner semi driven by Stephen Hendricken, 49, of Greensboro, North Carolina, was traveling west on U.S. 35 when it ran off the right side of the roadway and jackknifed, blocking the westbound lanes, according to the patrol. It is not the first time a westbound semi has gone off that stretch of U.S. 35 in Jackson County; troopers investigated a similar crash involving a semi near milepost 3 in 2024.
Crews closed U.S. 35 for roughly three hours to investigate the crash and clear the roadway, the patrol said. No injuries were reported.
The Jackson Post was assisted at the scene by the Ohio Department of Transportation, Jackson Fire Department, High Road Towing, Jackson EMS, Wellston Police Department and the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, according to the patrol.
The crash remains under investigation.
