HILLSBORO, Ohio — The Highland County Peace Officers Association will hold its annual Quarter Auction fundraiser Friday night, with proceeds going toward the county’s Shop with a Cop program, the Highland County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post.

The event begins at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 6 at Backroom Paradise, 6174 Miller Lane in Hillsboro, according to the sheriff’s office. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.

A quarter auction lets attendees bid on donated items using numbered paddles and quarters instead of cash. The first paddle costs $5, with additional paddles available for $1 each, the sheriff’s office said. Food vendors will be on site, and anyone with questions can contact Damon at (937) 763-4887.

Proceeds support Shop with a Cop, a Highland County Sheriff’s Office program that pairs local law enforcement officers with children from economically disadvantaged families for supervised holiday shopping trips. The program relies on community donations and fundraisers held throughout the year to cover the cost of the gifts.
