HILLSBORO, Ohio — The Highland County Health Department closed out its 2026 Dumpster Days program having hauled away 29.28 tons of trash across eight events this year, the department said in a social media post.
The department thanked residents and its host sites for the year’s events, which ran from April through September and collected nearly 59,000 pounds of debris that officials said would otherwise have ended up in ditches, backyards and roadsides. Bayview Cabins was the program’s top-tonnage site for the year, according to the department’s post.
Dumpster Days is a free, first-come-first-served service that lets residents dispose of unwanted furniture, yard waste and other non-hazardous household items without a trip to the landfill. The department does not accept hazardous materials, tires, batteries, appliances, electronics or construction debris at the events.
This year’s events were hosted at the Highland County Health Department, Bayview Cabins, Mowrystown Fire Department, the Lynchburg Sewage Treatment Plant and the Greenfield Highland County Community Action Organization office, the department said. The health department said it will post 2027 Dumpster Days dates on its page in the coming months.
