LUCASVILLE, Ohio — Water One has issued a boil advisory for customers in the La Donna and North Street areas, the Scioto County Emergency Management Agency said in a Facebook post.
The advisory will remain in effect until further notice. Customers in the affected areas are advised to boil tap water for at least two minutes before drinking it or using it for cooking to ensure any contaminants are destroyed.
Infants and people with weakened immune systems face the greatest risk from contaminated water, according to the advisory. Boil advisories are typically issued after a loss of water pressure, a water main break or another disruption that could allow bacteria or other contaminants to enter the distribution system.
Water One, formally known as Scioto County Regional Water District No. 1, is headquartered on state Route 728 in Lucasville. The district, which operates under Ohio Revised Code Chapter 6119 governing regional water and sewer districts, supplies water to customers across eight townships in Scioto County.
