GOOD HOPE, Ohio — The Wayne Township Volunteer Fire Rescue will hold its annual fish fry fundraiser Sept. 12, with proceeds this year going entirely toward new equipment for the volunteer department, the fire department said in a Facebook post.
The fundraiser runs from noon to 5 p.m., or until the food sells out, at 3819 Main St. in Good Hope. The department said every dollar raised goes toward “keeping our community and our crew safe,” and this year’s proceeds will be used specifically to purchase new equipment for the department.
Residents who cannot attend but still want to contribute can reach out to any department member directly or send the department a message on Facebook, according to the post.
Good Hope is an unincorporated community in central Wayne Township, Fayette County, roughly midway between Greenfield and the county seat of Washington Court House. The community had a population of 202 at the 2020 census. It was platted in 1849, though a small settlement already existed there, and takes its name from Good Hope, Pennsylvania, the home of many of its early settlers.
Like many rural Ohio departments, Wayne Township Volunteer Fire Rescue relies on community fundraisers such as the fish fry to help supplement its budget for apparatus and gear.
