HIGHLAND COUNTY, Ohio — A man was charged with domestic violence and unlawful restraint after a disturbance call on U.S. 62 in Highland County, then taken into custody in neighboring Adams County, according to the Highland County Sheriff’s Office.

Highland County sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the 5000 block of U.S. 62 on Sunday in response to a report of a possible active domestic dispute, the sheriff’s office said. When deputies arrived, one of the people involved in the disturbance had already left the scene, according to the release.
Following an investigation, James Coty Winland was charged with domestic violence and unlawful restraint, the sheriff’s office said.
The Adams County Sheriff’s Office located Winland at a residence in that county and took him into custody, according to the release. He was transported to the Highland County Justice Center.
Winland was arraigned in Hillsboro Municipal Court on Monday, where he was released on his own recognizance, according to the sheriff’s office.
Suspects are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
