WASHINGTON COURT HOUSE, Ohio — Fayette County commissioners voted May 26 to take out a three-year loan to buy a $354,500 landfill compactor, financing most of the cost through Kansas State Bank as the county works through a broader landfill expansion project.
Commissioners authorized Sanitary Engineer Jason Little to sign a finance loan purchase agreement for a 2004 Caterpillar Model 836G landfill compactor, purchased through Best Equipment Inc. Under the terms, the county will pay 10% down and finance the remaining $319,050 at 6.89% interest over three years, with payments of $121,330.28 a year starting in May 2027. Including interest, the total cost comes to $399,440.84, according to the county.
In separate action, commissioners approved additional work under an existing contract with Donald W. May Contracting Inc. of Leesburg for the Rattlesnake Water System Improvements project, covering work tied to Phase 3 of the county’s permanent water line and water treatment plant construction. The added work will cost $45,090.95.
Commissioners also approved a Title XX county profile setting $567,674 in state funding for the Fayette County Department of Job and Family Services to provide services such as case management, foster care, protective services and home-delivered meals between Oct. 1, 2026, and Sept. 30, 2027.
