CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Union Township trustees will host a public forum this month to update residents on plans for a new emergency medical services facility in the township, according to the Union Township Fire Department.
The meeting is set for 6:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 17, at Union Township Fire Station 1, 12034 Pleasant Valley Road.
Officials said the open forum will give township residents a chance to learn more about the project, hear directly from trustees and ask questions about the planned facility. The meeting is open to the public, and all residents are encouraged to attend.
Union Township, home to about 12,530 residents according to the 2020 census, is an unincorporated community spanning roughly 67 square miles in the northern part of Ross County. It is governed by a three-member board of trustees elected to staggered four-year terms.
The township’s fire department is an all-volunteer, paid-per-call agency that operates out of multiple stations, including the Pleasant Valley Road station where the forum will be held. The department received a $252,000 state grant earlier this year to replace aging self-contained breathing apparatus used by firefighters, part of an ongoing effort to modernize its equipment and infrastructure.
