WASHINGTON COURT HOUSE, Ohio — The Concord-Green Fire Department is selling $5 rubber bracelets at local drive-thru windows to help pay for a new fire station, the volunteer department said in a Facebook post.
The bracelets, which come in several colors, are available at the Pettit’s Drive Thru locations in Washington Court House and at the Pettit’s Drive Thru in Harrisburg, the department said. All proceeds go directly toward Concord-Green’s fundraising campaign for a new station.
The sale is the latest step in a monthslong push by the volunteer department, which serves Concord, Green and Perry townships in Fayette County from a single station, known as Station 300, on Worthington Road. In August, the department surveyed residents on support for building a new, safer station and later announced it had secured nearly $131,000 in grants and gifts toward the project.
The department also plans to open Station 300 for public tours during an open house scheduled for Oct. 3, when visitors will be able to climb aboard a fire truck, view equipment displays and learn more about the push for a new building.
Department officials have not released a cost estimate or timeline for a new station beyond the ongoing survey and grant-seeking efforts.
