HOCKING COUNTY, Ohio — The Hocking County Sheriff’s office welcomed a new member to the team.

Sheriff Lanny North announced the newest member is K-9 Zara. According to North, Zara is a 2 1/2-year-old Belgian Malinois from Germany.

Zara’s new partner will be Detective Sam Angle, who recently received state certification from the Ohio Highway Patrol K-9 academy. The office’s new canine is trained in narcotics detection, as well as search and tracking.

Currently, the department has two other K-9 units, according to North. Zara will join Tiger and Ilka
