GREENFIELD, Ohio — Students and staff at Greenfield schools will now have to mask up.

In a “one-call” message, Supertendient Quincy Gray laid out the district’s concerns as COVID-19 cases continue to rise across the state.

Gray said, “After being in school just three days, we have experienced 17 positive student cases, and 82 students quarantined.”

District representatives said, “The Ohio Department of Education is not offering districts the same flexibility with remote learning as last school year. If we have to close a building or the district because of COVID-19, we will have to use calamity days.”

A COVID-19 case tracker will be added to the district’s website so parents can view real-time positive cases, and quarantine numbers.

“It is our goal as a district to always protect students and staff. Together, we can get through this challenging time while keeping students in school,” said Gray.
