PICKAWAY COUNTY, Ohio — The Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a suspicious vehicle on Route 104 around 3:00 p.m. on January 12, 2022.
Deputies, the sheriff said, located a vehicle matching the description in the Goody Nook parking lot just outside of Circleville.
Sgt. Stephen Harger and his canine partner, Joris, were called to the scene. The pair performed a free-air sniff on the exterior of the vehicle. Sgt. Harger observed Joris “hit” on the passenger side. When the occupants were searched, reports read, a large brown rock-like substance was discovered in the female’s pocket.
Ashlee Ross, 34, of Chillicothe, and Brandon McKinney, of Nicholas, West Virginia, admitted that the substance was heroin.
Both were arrested and taken to the Pickaway County Jail. Ross is charged with heroin trafficking (F-2) and heroin possession (F-2). McKinney was also charged with heroin possession (F-5). Both will be arraigned on January 13, 2022, in Circleville Municipal Court. The admitted heroin was weighed and determined to be slightly more than 1 ounce in weight, with a street value of approximately $2500.
