ORIGINAL STORY:
A Miami Trace High School student is under investigation for rape and allegations that he made a comment that he would take a gun to school.
Detectives with the Fayette County Sheriff’s office are investigating 14-year-old Jayden Allen for the alleged crimes. He is in the ninth grade at Miami Trace High School.
It was reported to law enforcement that Allen, who is a resident of Jeffersonville, raped a 13-year-old girl in the village last week.
According to witness statements, Allen was forcing himself onto another girl at the old Jeffersonville school park when the 13-year-old intervened and fended him off. A few days earlier, witnesses told deputies, the teen turned on the 13-year-old and raped her.
The victim told deputies that Allen threatened to shoot her if she told anyone and showed her a silver revolver handgun, another time.
Miami Trace is actively investigating the allegations, and it was reported by other district students to authorities that Allen has made comments he would bring the gun to school and “do a shooting.” Deputies and district staff are looking into that allegation.
Miami Trace Superintendent Dave Lewis was out of town Wednesday, but issued a statement.
“As you know, we cannot discuss student matters, but I assure you that the safety and well being of our students is our number one priority at Miami Trace,” the Superintendent’s statement read.
A message was left with Fayette County Sheriff Vernon P. Stanforth.
