GREENFIELD, Ohio — Local country music hitmaker, Brad Martin, died this week, according to his family.
Martin was a Greenfield native who turned out country hits in the early 2000s. Most notably was his hit song, “Before I Knew Better.” The song charted on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs.
According to the late singer’s online biography, Brad Martin was born May 7, 1973, in Greenfield. He moved from the small town to Nashville in his early 20s, eventually signing a recording contract with Epic Records. Martin would release his first album, “Wings of a Honkey-Tonk Angel,” in 2002.
In 2008, Martin would form the country duo, Martin Ramey, and sign with Curb Records.
The duo would go on to record several singles, including a country cover of the 1977 Cheap Trick classic, “I Want You to Want Me.”

On Saturday, John Ramey posted on Facebook, “I am heartbroken. Rock on my brother! You were a great friend, true talent and it was an honor making music with you!
Funeral arrangements were not immediately released by the family.
