MEIGS COUNTY, Ohio —- The Meigs County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a wanted fugitive accused of leading deputies on a pursuit Friday morning.
According to the sheriff’s office, around 10 a.m., deputies attempted to stop a vehicle on Union Avenue in Pomeroy. Officials say the man fled, leading the deputies on a high-speed chase.
The suspect, 26-year-old Cody Casteel of Nelsonville, ditched his vehicle near Ball Run Road and Bunker Hill Church Road. Reports say Casteel pulled a gun on one deputy before fleeing into a nearby wooded area.
The Ohio Highway Patrol, along with several other neighboring departments, has joined in the hunt for Casteel.
Cody Casteel is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call 9-1-1 immediately.
