PICKAWAY COUNTY, Ohio — A deputy, an inmate, and others are in serious condition after an accident in Pickaway County.
Fire and rescue personnel responded to a two-vehicle crash involving a Wyandot County Sheriff’s transport vehicle on Thursday. It happened at the intersection of route 104 and route 56 in Pickaway County at around 11 a.m.
Multiple crews responded to the scene.
According to initial reports, the transport vehicle was carrying a prisoner at the time of the crash when it collided with a pickup truck. The deputy was taken by medical helicopter to Grant Medical Center in Columbus. The prisoner and the driver of the pickup were taken to local hospitals.
The Guardian reached out to the Wyandot County Sheriff’s Office who refused comment. The prisoner was being transported from Ross County. Their name was not released.
The accident remains under investigation.
