CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — A substitute teacher in Chillicothe was fired after getting into an altercation with a student.

It happened last week at Chillicothe Primary School, according to a Sheriff report, after a mother said her special needs son had used profanity towards a substitute teacher.

The child involved in the incident was playing a game and refused to switch to the next station when asked, according to other students who witnessed the attack. The substitute asked the student to switch, but he responded by saying he didn’t give a “f***.” The teacher told him not to speak to her in that way and forced his face towards her to make him look at her, at which point the child repeated the profanity. After the teacher grabbed his face, the student yelled for her to get her hands off him and ran out of the classroom for another teacher. The mother explained that her son has disabilities and that there is a safety plan in place for when such incidents occur.

No injuries were reported at the time of the incident. The substitute was sent home pending a school investigation. The district’s superintendent told the Guardian on Monday that all parents were contacted and that the teacher was later fired from the district. No charges were filed.
