WASHINGTON, D.C. — In another first in American history, embattled former President Donald Trump has been indicted on federal charges.
This week, a federal grand jury handed down a multi-count indictment against Trump. The indictment is related to the handling of classified documents by the former President and his staff.
In August 2022, agents with the Federal Bureau of Investigation executed a raid on Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home. According to documents released at the time, several top-secret documents and multiple boxes of related materials were also seized.
Following the announcement from federal prosecutors, Trump took to his social media platform, Truth Social, to express his dissatisfaction.
“I am an innocent man. The Biden Administration is totally corrupt. This is election interference,” said the former President.
Supporters of the 45th President, including controversial MAGA Republican Marjorie Taylor Greene, called for a “defunding of the government.”
Trump is expected to turn himself in to federal authorities in Miami on Tuesday.
