A Greenfield native was shot and killed Monday evening in Fayette County.

Deputies say that Joseph Brown, 20, shot and killed 20-year-old Liliana Null. It happened at an apartment complex on Joanne Drive at around 6:15 p.m.

It was there that the Sheriff said Brown chased Null around the apartment, out a backdoor, and fired multiple shots into her as she tried to run away. She died laying in the backyard before medics could save her.

The Sheriff said Brown has been charged with aggravated murder and was taken into custody without incident; Stanforth was still at the scene after neighbors called 9-1-1.

Deputies secured a search warrant to scour the home and vehicles for evidence. Fayette County Prosecutor Jess Weade was seen touring the crime scene with deputies, as well.

The charge aggravated murder is different from murder. Aggravated murder means it was pre-meditated. Pre-planned, investigators say, because it was less than 24 hours before the shooting that Brown posted on social media expressing his anger over Null moving on from their relationship. Stanforth told the Guardian that Brown had lured Null to the apartment with plans to kill her.

“I swear my inner demon is about to come the f–k out,” Brown posted. “I know what I am going to do…no one is gonna [sic] do that to me and get away with it….on my life!”

The two shared a 2-month-old infant son, who the Sheriff said was at the apartment when the shooting occurred.

The baby was taken to the local hospital and handed over to children services, the Sheriff reported.

Null’s body was taken to the Montgomery County Coroner’s office for an autopsy, while Brown was taken to lockup at the Fayette County Jail.
