CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Auditor Jeff Lehner announced today that Ross County residents have been granted an extension on the deadline to purchase 2024 dog licenses without incurring late fees. The original deadline of January 31 has been extended to February 15, as per a resolution passed by the Ross County Commissioners.

According to Lehner, this extension provides affected Ross County dog and kennel owners an additional two weeks to secure their licenses before facing state-mandated late fees, which will double the current prices. Lehner urged residents to seize this opportunity and save on licensing costs.

Under Ohio law, individuals who “own, keep, or harbor” a dog aged three months or more are required to obtain dog licenses annually. Ross County’s current fees of $10 per dog license and $50 per kennel license will double to $20 for dogs and $100 for kennels after the extended deadline of February 15.

Dog owners can purchase licenses at various locations throughout Ross County. For inquiries, Ross County citizens are encouraged to contact the Auditor’s office at 740-702-3080.
