MEIGS COUNTY, Ohio — Meigs County Prosecuting Attorney James K. Stanley announced this week that a Meigs County Grand Jury returned 21 indictments for various offenses on January 17.

Drug Possessions Dominate: The majority of indictments, 15 in total, involved possession of illegal drugs, primarily methamphetamine. Individuals charged with this offense face potential penalties ranging from 6 months to 5 years in prison, depending on the severity of the case and sentencing guidelines in place at the time of the offense.
Other Charges: Additional indictments included charges for obstructing justice, tampering with evidence, assault, domestic violence, illegal conveyance of drugs to a detention facility, and improper handling of firearms. Sentences for these offenses vary depending on the specific charge and prior criminal history.

- Keith Nakao: Faces the most serious charges, including abduction,domestic violence, and aggravated menacing.
- Daniel J. Murphy: Indicted for possession of both methamphetamine and fentanyl,along with tampering with evidence and illegal use of government benefits.
- Matthew A. Ward: Charged with smuggling drugs into a detention facility, possessing methamphetamine and fentanyl.
- James A. McDonald: Faces multiple charges, including assault,obstructing justice, improper handling of firearms, and resisting arrest.
