WAVERLY, Ohio – If you’re passing by the Waverly Downtown Athletic Complex today, you may notice fire hoses stretched across the parking lot as the Waverly Fire Department conducts its annual hose testing.

A licensed professional team specializing in fire hose testing is on-site to ensure that all equipment meets National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Standard 1962. The rigorous process involves pumping hoses to pressures beyond normal use to check for strength, reliability, and safety.

“Our hoses are a lifeline for firefighters and those we serve, so we test every single section annually—straight off the trucks and storage racks,” the department stated.

This annual testing is part of routine maintenance and safety checks designed to keep the department’s equipment in peak condition. The testing process ensures that when lives are on the line, firefighters have dependable gear ready for any emergency.
