A major route through southern Ohio was closed after torrential downpours.
Route 23 northbound near Cockrell’s Run Road between Piketon and Lucasville was closed after water started rushing across the highway Sunday afternoon.
Troopers shutdown the northbound lanes after at least one vehicle became stranded.

Backroads throughout southern Ohio in Ross, Fayette, Pike, and Pickaway counties are flooded out; multiple small water rescues have been conducted throughout the area.
Rain plummeted the area early Sunday morning and continued to pour down throughout the afternoon.
Meteorologists said they expect showers the rest of the night.
Route 23 reopened by 4 p.m. on Sunday.
