This week, two Pickaway County Sheriff Corrections Officers and one Deputy Sheriff received Certificates of Commendation. As well as one Corrections Officer receiving a Certificate of Merit from Sheriff Radcliff.
On January 14, Officer Jim Phillips, while making routine rounds found an inmate in his cell attempting suicide. Officer Phillips immediately called for assistance and then entered the cell and stopped the suicide attempt, with other officers there soon to assist.
Phillips, a 28 year veteran of the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office Corrections Division received a Certificate of Merit. Deputy Casey Williams, Officer Nathan Wright, and Officer Charles Reed received Certificates of Commendation.
Sheriff Radcliff wants everyone to know that being a Corrections Officer is often the least recognized, but most important jobs in criminal Justice.
“Without dedicated Officers like these, effective law enforcement would not be able to function”, Sheriff Radcliff stated.
