Two people have been arrested in Chillicothe for alleged counterfeiting after fake money has plagued the community recently.
The first call over the weekend happened at the Valero on the corner of Second and Bridge, where officers said a man was trying to use a fake $20. When they talked with the man he told them he was given the money when he sold a cell phone earlier in the day to a homeless man.
Police made note of the call and the money was taken out of circulation.
Also over the weekend, a fake $20 was passed at the Salvation Army, police said.
Two people, Robert Faber and Brittany Lusk were arrested and charged with counterfeiting after they told police they received the money from an ATM machine at PNC bank in town. Police said that is not true. Later, the two changed their story saying they received the money from a relative.
