The Circleville Police Department is offering training to teach the community how to respond in the event of an active shooter.
Their instructors are certified to teach a program called CRASE —Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events, the police department said. To date they have instructed local schools, churches, day care centers, businesses, and community groups as well as assisted in building security and setting up security teams, the chief said.
CRASE teaches students, faculty and staff how to be prepared for and respond to an active shooter and/or critical incident. This program was developed by Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training (ALERRT) at Texas State University and has been provided to our department at no cost due to federal funding.
Police encourage organizations who wish to schedule a training session to contact them.
